Platform Property

Station Twelve alters a missing-passenger report to accept three former owners and opens locker 12-43.

I asked Station Twelve to open locker 12-43 for the coat it had recognised as a passenger. The access panel considered the request, displayed OWNER STATUS INCOMPLETE and kept the door locked.

A second screen offered a missing-passenger report. It required the coat to report its former owner. I entered the first worker number from the cuff. The form rejected it because the report allowed one owner and the change-of-address slip carried three.

I tried filing three reports. Station Twelve refused the second and third as duplicates. The coat remained on the platform bench with its visitor badge facing the camera, which appeared to improve the station's concentration.

The screen went blank for eleven seconds. When it returned, OWNER had become FORMER OWNERS. Three name fields had appeared. No amendment notice or software receipt was provided.

I entered each worker number and attached Reeve's certified copy. The station accepted the restricted identity references as names without displaying them. It assigned one missing-passenger case and printed three collection stubs.

The final declaration asked whether the reporting passenger expected the missing people to return. The coat had no authorised answer. I selected STATUS UNKNOWN. Station Twelve marked the report complete and withdrew the locker seal.

Locker 12-43 opened four centimetres. Inside was a tied stack of paper, left in date order by someone with more confidence than space. Tomorrow I must inventory the contents and identify who prepared the records.
